12:00 noon, Friday, 10th July, 2009
To have persuaded William Dalrymple to speak at our next literary lunch is something of a coup! As a best-selling and multi-prize winning author, he is today one of the world’s most celebrated travel writers and a commentator whose reach extends to history, biography, spirituality and mysticism in both the broadcast medium and the printed word. His books include the highly acclaimed In Xanadu, which he wrote at the age of twenty-two, City of Djinns, The Age of Kali and White Mughals. I have just finished reading From the Holy Mountain, a brilliant narrative on the demise of Christianity in the Middle East.
Please mark your diary! Friday, 10th July is not to be missed! The programme will begin at 12:00 noon when William will talk about his work and experiences. Lunch will follow at 1:00 pm and there will be plenty of time to discuss his books and have your copies signed by the author. Tickets for the event are £45 per person to include the presentation, a three-course lunch, wine and coffee.
Louise and I look forward to welcoming you to the Castle in July.
